August residential building permits up 3% m/m

According to the Romanian National Statistics Institute, 4,652 buildings permits were issued for residential projects in August, up 3 per cent compared with July, but down 23.2 per cent y/y.
Some 64 per cent of the building permits were for residential projects in the rural areas, same as in previous months.
Compared to Aug 2008, the most significant decreases were registered in Bucharest-Ilfov, the north-western zone and southern-Muntenia region. As much as 33,034 buildings permits for residential projects were issued in the first eight months of the year, down 20 per cent y/y.
